Potty problems and swimming progress

When I posted last week about Matthew having gone to the toilet in his pants, we were hoping it would turn out to be a one off.  Unfortunately he now seems to have taken a liking to it.  While he will happily ask for the potty or his toilet seat to have a wee, and once again went throughout the day at nursery today without any accidents, he has now had a poo in his pants every day for the last three days.  Who said potty training would be easy?  We keep telling him to ask us, and everything we've read suggests that it's best to praise toddlers when they get it right rather than get cross when they do it wrong, but we've been doing this since we started at Easter.  Anyway we're going to try a new tactic, and if he goes in the potty or toilet we will be reward him with a small amount of chocolate!  My mother said it worked for me!

We have had some progress at swimming, though. Matthew went for his third swimming trip last Sunday since May, and this time he was confident enough to let go of Louise and try and paddle on his own, though he preferred to walk across the baby pool rather than try and swim.  Still, this is a very positive step as if we can encourage him to feel comfortable on his own, I'm sure the swimming will come in time.

Edit (2nd July 2011): Over the last week he seems to have dramatically improved and hasn't been in his pants once. He has taken to doing a poo in the toilet before bed in the evening now, rather than use the potty.
