Anyway, we needn't have worried. He was a bit scared to begin with when the lights when down but, after a few minutes when the characters had come out, he became quite excited and started to enjoy it. He sat down nicely all through the show and didn't moan or cry, unlike some of the other children - one in front of us cried and had to be taken out, and another kept running around and wouldn't sit still. The show took the form of an episode, with the theme music at the beginning, and the characters going to bed just before the end. Although Upsy Daisy and Iggle Piggle were played by actors in life-size costumes - identical to those on the show - the remaining characters were puppets operated on stage. We went to see the Ninky Nonk show, and the Ninky Nonk made several appearances rolling across the stage, presumably remote controlled as there was no sign of anyone operating it. The Pinky Ponk also put in an appearance, though this was on a pole operated by one of the puppet-masters.
We bought Matthew a souvenir programme, Pinky Ponk balloon and light-up windmill. The balloon was so big I couldn't see well out of the rear window when driving home! I did expect Matthew to want to watch the programme on TV tonight but he still played up during it, and didn't want to sit through it like he used to. He's more interested in Peppa Pig and Thomas these days.
