Celebrating Matthew's 3rd birthday

It's Matthew's third birthday tomorrow, but we held the celebrations today as he's in nursery and both Louise and I will be in work.  This morning, Matthew went to Funtazia play centre with Louise, and his friends Cerys and Steffan.  They had a good time, though Steffan was more confident than Matthew and Cerys, so went running off on his own.  Afterwards, Matthew and Cerys went to McDonald's with Louise and her friend (I was being a geek, and stayed at home studying).  Matthew had a toy slinky dog from Cerys for his birthday.

Matthew's birthday cake
After lunch, family and friends came round for the afternoon to give Matthew his presents and have a slice of birthday cake.  The cake was very cleverly home-made by my mum in the shape of a train, to the same design as the cake I had for my third birthday.  Matthew asked us to sing happy birthday and thoroughly enjoyed his slice of cake, finishing it off before everyone else had even had a piece.

Matthew had lots of gifts - several DVDs including Thomas and Winnie the Pooh, lots of games, some jigsaws, Chuggington play set expansion pack, tunnels and bridges and a chug wash, and some more Chuggington trains, some clothes, Disney Cars toys and playmat, a street playmat with vehicles.  The most popular, to Louise's relief, was his Fireman Sam fire engine and fire station set.  After Louise bought it, she asked Matthew if he liked Fireman Sam and he said "no", so she was worried he wouldn't like it.
