Face

So far, Matthew's attempts at drawing have mainly involved scribbling lines and dots on pieces of paper - he often comes home with scribbles in different colours from nursery without any discernable pictures - and he hasn't shown much enthusiasm for trying to draw or write anything legible.

That has changed a little this week, as Matthew has started to show more of an interest in drawing and writing.  On Thursday he drew a face on his magnetic Thomas drawing book (shown left), complete with dot eyes, smiley mouth towards the bottom left of the picture, curly hair, ears, and even arms and legs. He has omitted the body but I was still very impressed considering I've never seen him try to draw a face before except when attempting a circle with two dots for eyes.  He also spent some time copying numbers and got quite good at it.

He can also now do pretty much all of his jigsaws on his own and also his caterpillar shape stacker, on which he has to fit different shapes onto appropriately shaped tower blocks.  He can do all of his "Find the Rhyme" puzzles as well, where he has to match the start and end of an animal rhyme with pictures, such as "A fly in the sky"; "A cat in a hat" etc.
