Matthew had his feet measured again today and his feet are now 8½G, so he's gone up half a size. The only shoes in the shop were in a very similar dinosaur design to his last pair, or with lights. Matthew didn't want the lights, so he now has a pair of brown shoes with green dinosaurs on the bottom. He also went with Louise to the bank for an appointment to discuss his savings account, and embarrassed her when he interrupted the discussion with "Mummy, I need a poo". Apparently he giggled while Louise talked about his account, and he came home with a balloon from the bank!
Louise has bought a children's Welsh word book with pictures, because Matthew is often asking us to translate words into Welsh. His Cylch and nursery are both Welsh, so he picks up some of the language there, and enjoys correcting people when they get the Welsh wrong (particularly my Mum, and our next door neighbour Val). Although he enjoys translating words he doesn't like it if we attempt to speak Welsh, and when Louise tried to read to him in Welsh earlier today he shouted "No! Speak English!".
We had a good report back from the nursery on Monday. The staff had asked the children to tidy up after a "free reading" session where they were able to choose their own books, and Matthew was the only one who helped. He also came home from Cylch today with a star, but they had drawn it on a piece of paper as they had run out of stickers!
Matthew has made a friend called Joel at his Cylch. They met the first time Matthew went, as Joel was also starting, though they haven't had much of a chance to play together while Matthew only attended for half a day a week. On Wednesday when Louise went to pick Matthew up, Joel kept shouting "Bye Matthew!". They won't spend any more time together even now Matthew is going on Thursday mornings, because Joel doesn't attend on Thursdays.
